Artist's Statement

The struggle is to produce images that are unique, otherwise the pursuit is useless.

I have come to few conclusions concerning my recent work, other than the decision to exhibit it.

At this point, it is the struggle that has left an impression on me, while the images have had less affect.

The physical act of painting has exhausted me, has not proved enjoyable, and has left me desperately wanting to do anything else. In part it is this sacrifice that demands that my results be unique.

When I view the work of others, I appreciate an uniqueness, a struggle; I must submit my work to these same criteria.

If I have not struggled enough, if I have failed to produce the unique, then I alone suffer my work's mediocrity.
