Andrew Kuster

Andrew Kuster is a writer, scholar, and conductor. He works as the Staff Editor for the Kurt Weill Edition at the Kurt Weill Foundation for Music. Among his scholarly publications are the Kurt Weill Edition of Zaubernacht (co-editor), an edition of Heinrich Schütz's Geistliche Chor-Music, and Amy Beach's The Sea-Fairies published in A-R Editions' Recent Researches in American Music. He earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. His dissertation was entitled Stravinsky's Topology. Andrew organizes and conducts various musical ensembles such as Vitriol for recordings and performances. Some musical examples of his conducting include Schütz's "So fahr ich hin" (3236kb mp3) and Messiaen's "Cinq Rechants 2" (3557kb mp3). In his free time, Andrew enjoys playing with his son, exploring the food, architecture, parks and museums of New York City, reading philosophical and psychological texts, cooking, following finance and politics, and listening to his wife Kristin's compositions.
