Gourd Dance & Powwow at Barnes
104th Fighter Wing Mass. Air National Guard Base Cafeteria
140 Falcon Drive
Westfield, Massachusetts

Thanks to our friends at Barnes that have allowed us to co-sponsor this event with the Northeast Gourd Clan each year. We hope to return on Saturday, February 14th, 2015 and will have confirmation of this date close to January 1st, 2015

Our most recent event was our Memorial Day Weekend Powwow.

The weather events gave us an opportunity to take a chance on enjoying dancing in the field.

Saturday began with Flag Raising followed by a Gourd Dance session before breaking for lunch.

The afternoon dance session included specials for our children.

The feast at 5:00 pm featured a great vennison stew {please don't tell the folks who thought it was the best beef stew they ever had that is wasn't beef}.

The clouds opened on Saturday night and we had to pause for a while to relocate inside Andrews Hall at 8:30 pm to finish the evening dance session.

Sunday began with Flag Raising followed by a Veterans Breakfast.

A passing thunderstorm with lightning added to the excitement of our Artifact Sale.

Our annual meeting of members happened between the afternoon and evening dance sessions. Thanks to Council members who completed their service and congrats to those who will be "taking care of business" for the next two years.

We made it to the end of the evening dance session and were able to put away the benches while they were still dry as the dew of the night began to set it.

Thanks to the Four Winds Singers -- our Southern Drum -- and to Black Thunder -- our Northern Drum -- keeping our feet busy all weekend with their great songs.

Thanks to Jason Lantagne -- our Powwow Chairman -- and all who took time to help him before and during the weekend.  Now that he has been elected to be our Chairman for the next two years, please continue to offer him assistance.
