The creator of this web site has! People across the country (and the world) are taking steps to limit or stop the adverse effects of airport operations (air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, ground pollution, etc.) on their communities. Community leaders and elected officials have joined them in their efforts, but in Milwaukee, the lack of concern and involvement by both sides doesn't warrant the time and effort to keep up with it. It'd be nice to have more than a handful of residents actively working toward solutions -- or just to be calling their County Supervisor with their concerns, or to be logging complaints. To quote a former member of ANA who has also moved away: "Airport staff is running the County Board when it comes to airport policy making. Citizens have no say at all." He got out when he could still get a decent price for his property. If you don't think that continually expanding the airport will have an effect on you or your property or the surrounding community, or if you're just interested in getting "free" doors and windows for your house, then you shouldn't be visiting this site. This site is intended to disseminate information you won't get from your elected and appointed officials. If you think that an airport is an "economic engine" for the community, you're wrong -- that notion has been dispelled again and again. With the selling out of our "hometown airline" it has become abundantly clear that the only reason this airport currently exists is so out of town airlines, and passengers alike, have a cheap alternative -- at your expense! You, the taxpayer and owner of the airport get absolutely nothing for putting up with the noise and air pollution -- except a little less healthier than the rest of the community. It could be different. You could insist that you be compensated in some way. ANA has laid the groundwork -- now it's up to you to get active. But being Milwaukee, that's not likely to happen.
