MR. MORITERU UESHIBA, HOMBU DOJO-CHO ASSUMES THE POSITION OF DOSHU

The position of Aikido Doshu was assumed by Mr. Moriteru Ueshiba, General Director of the Hombu Dojo on Monday, January 18th 1999, as formal successor and inheritor of the tradition of Aikido, consequent on the regretted passing of Doshu Kisshomaru Ueshiba. Mr. Moriteru Ueshiba succeeded Doshu at the age of forty-seven as the case of his father who also succeeded the position of Doshu, at the same age, from the Founder, Morihei Ueshiba.

Here is a message from the new Doshu addressed to aikidoists of the whole world.

Dear Sir/Madame

This will serve to announce that I, Moritern Ueshiba, have assumed the position of Aikido Doshu following the passing of Doshu Kisshomaru Ueshiba.

As Doshu I will do my utmost to adhere to the legacy of the late Doshu, and to enable Aikido to further develop and flourish in a harmonious manner so that I may meet the expectations of Aikidoists throughout the world.

I ask for your continued support and assistance.

Yours sincerely,
Moriteru Ueshiba Aikido Doshu
