In response to the on-going low-intensity war against the Indigenous peoples of Chiapas and almost 4 years of Zapatista resistance and struggle, the National Commission for Democracy in Mexico and community groups from around L.A are sponsoring a Zapatista Festival of Resistance from December 10th-January 1st 1998. Events will include a march, a popular ballot on “The Right to Live in Peace in Chiapas,” cultural events at different locations around L.A., a festival of resistance, benefit concerts, art, poetry, information, dance and much more!
