My name is Galaxies Picabo Starr, but all my friends just call me Picabo. I'm 14 months old and I've just started doing agility. My very 1st trial was in Jan and I was 13 months old. Mom only entered me in JWW 'cause she wasn't sure if I was ready (I'm kinda shy). Now I really don't like to brag, but... I got (2) 1st place (both clean runs) and a 2nd place in Nov JWW - so.... that also means I earned my first title "NAJ"!! My Mom was so proud of me!!! I must say that was quite the experience...... there must have been at least a gazillion people there! And everybody wanted to pet me and play with me. Most people thought I was still a baby 'cause I only weigh 5lbs and I'm not very big, but Mom told them I was a big girl! I really think I'm going to like this Agility thing! My big brother Kosmoe told me it was fun and when I got older I could do it too. Boy was he right! Kosmoe told me all about ZOOMIES too, but I'm not sure if I'm going to try them.... Mom looks a little frazzled when he does them. I think for now I'm just going to hang close by Mom so she will continue to save me from some of the scary things on the course, like the "teeter monster". Every time I go across, things are fine until I get to the other end. Then, as soon as I jump off, it flies up and tries to get me, but Mom is too smart for the "teeter monster" and we take off running before it can get us! Hey! Mom finally killed the teeter monster!! Saturday, March 26th I did my 1st Standard run. Since I'm not scared any more, I figured why do it? There was something more interesting over in the corner of the ring so I went over to check it out. Mom tried to get me to come back, but I wanted to check things out first. Then.... this lady out in the ring (Mom calls her a judge, whatever that is?) made a funny noise with something she put in her mouth. Mom picked me up and wouldn't let me play anymore. Guess I won't try that again! But I did good in my Open JWW and got a 1st place, so Mom still loves me. Sunday was really fun and Mom was really proud of me! In Open JWW, half way through the course, I saw the scribe and ran over to say hi and show her how cute I am ( you know, to get the extra points and all ) and was very careful not to go over any jumps. Then I ran back over to Mom and finished the course with no mistakes and got a 2nd place. Not to bad for taking the time to go say hi! I was very good in my Nov. Standard course ..... to make up for the day before. It was a clean run and I got a 2nd place there too. The other guy that beat me was less than 1 second faster. So that was my Easter present to my Mom! |
