The Alliance Française is an international network of non-profit associations whose central administration is in Paris. The mission of these associations is the propagation of the French language and culture.

The Alliance Française is present in all five continents, represented by more than 1,300 centers in 142 countries. Each center is approved by authority of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Some Alliances Françaises offer French classes as well as various events related to France and the francophone world. Other Alliances concentrate their activities on events and meetings for the benefit of persons wishing to speak the language of Molière.

There are 125 Alliances Françaises in the United States, with more than 25,000 members. Some 25,000 adults and young people study French at the Alliance Française.
