Due
to the restrictive regulations adopted for Piedmont Park, there will
be no
hot air balloons in 2008 |
Every April through 2002, Atlanta residents
celebrated the coming of spring at the Atlanta Dogwood Festival in Atlanta's
Piedmont Park. Located just east of midtown Atlanta, Piedmont
Park filled with over 330,000 people over the three-day event.
Featured was a hot air balloon rally, live music on three stages, an
internationally acclaimed art show, the southern disc-dog champion ship
competition, fantastic food and many other eco-friendly demonstrations
and exhibits. AdVentures Aloft annually
produced the hot air balloon festival in conjunction with the Atlanta
Dogwood Festival. Featured during the balloon festival were special
shape hot air balloons, corporate balloons and sport balloons owned
by private individuals. All came together for a fun gathering
of good times, hot air ballooning and beautiful dogwood and azalea blooms
throughout the park. |

goers used to bring their cooler and a blanket and enjoy the balloons
from the hillside, a natural amphitheater. |
