Here is my retouching process for one of the pictures I took.
I have to execrate my digital camera for having that damn 2 second delay from when I push the button to when the picture actually gets taken and for having such a short-range flash! Curse, curse, curse.
If anyone wants to send a nice Canon EOS-1Ds for the next Con, my arm could be twisted to accept!

Here’s the original picture straight from the CF card.
First, I cropped the image, maintaining the original aspect ratio (4x3) of the photo.	Then, I retouched out that annoying wall lamp in the background & the spot on Michael’s head.
Next, I applied an auto-contrast adjustment. It’s most noticeable in Amanda’s lighter skin-tone.	Lastly, an auto-level adjustment to counter the underexposed look of the image.

I think I like the penultimate image, here. The last one, even though, lighting-wise, is pretty close to the real, looks washed out to me. Note the coloring of Amanda’s shirt. If I could stop down the auto-level mode adjustment to a slightly underexposed point, I’d be happy. I’d have to do that manually, though, and that’s more work than I care to do right now. Just like keeping Michael from catching any flies. I could change that, too, but it would take quite a bit of work.
