Celestia Add-Ons

The Celestia open-source 3-D space simulator, available for free download at http://www.shatters.net/celestia/, provides a versatile external trajectory interface through Cartesian ephemeris ".xyzv" files. The following MacMission Control trajectory simulations are available for download and use with Celestia v1.6.0 and subsequent releases. Installation instructions for each simulation are contained in the corresponding download's ReadMe text file.

• Apollo 11 Free-Return: this simulation reconstructs the as-flown Apollo 11 trajectory from Earth to the Moon. Because this reconstruction doesn't simulate the Lunar Orbit Insertion (LOI) maneuver Apollo 11 performed over the Moon's farside, a free-return journey back to Earth results as illustrated below.
