Communications: The ability to effectively handle all Inter-Ship (and Intra-Ship) communications, such as tight-beam links, coordinating damage control and medical parties, etc. It also deals with the interception and cracking of enemy signals (Sig-Int).

Environmental Engineering: The techniques by which Life Support Systems are set up, operated, and maintained. This includes food, water, and air, as well as temperature and radiation control systems, and waste processing.

Gunnery: The ability to use laser and particle beam weapon systems in a space combat in order to destroy enemy missiles and ships.

Piloting: Operating Stutterwarp-capable spacecraft.

Remote Piloting: The ability to remotely operate a sensor unit, missile, robot, et cetera in a situation which might be hazardous for human beings.

Sensors: The ability to navigate a starship, and gain information at a distance which may not be available to the human senses.

Ship Drive Engineering: The ability to diagnose, maintain, operate, and repair most aspects of a stutterwarp-capable vessel.

Spin Operations: The ability to compensate for the Coriolis Effect when using projectile or thrown weapons in spin gravity.

Thrusters: The ability to maneuver in space with only a reaction drive for propulsion, and little or no other equipment.

Zero-G: The ability to handle oneself well in weightless/microgravity conditions.
