Hello Homeschoolers!

I was tired of being stuck at home educating my kids with a limited choice of outside activities for them to enjoy.  I wanted my kids to be out there having fun building lifelong friendships!  So in May 2005, I decided to try my own group.

While I was looking to name the group, I wanted something that sounded homeschool friendly.  I also wanted a name that would be one of the first names in the alphabetically listed groups.  So I chose to use my childhood name.  When I was young my parents used to call me Amy.  Hence, "Amy's Christian Home School Network" was born!
Our group has been blessed with many families.  We have also had several challenges.  But with each challenge we encountered, we became stronger in our faith and walk in the Lord!

Would you like to be a part of this experience?  Join us during one of our gatherings!  We invite you to become a part of the ACHSN Family today and possibly, a piece of its history tomorrow!

May our Lord fill you with his Blessings,

Emily (Amy)

Why Mother's Day is so Special to me...

When I was 15 years old, after numerous tests, doctors told me that I couldn't have children.  I kind of rebelled feeling that I was "different" from other females.  My body acted different also, since I never knew what a normal menstrual cycle was like.  Mine only came once a year or once every two years.

I met the Lord when I was 23.  During that time, I was preparing to serve in the ministry.  While I was in training, I was shocked when the Lord placed me in a home with 4 children!  (I assisted in the delivery of their last two.)  I thought that this was a cruel joke.  I used to think, "Why would God put me in such a beautiful family if I can't have one of my own?".  So naturally, I started craving for a family of my own...

One day, I had a personal problem, so I spoke with the Pastor's assistant.  Instead of taking care of my problem, she looked at me and said, "Let's pray for you".  I didn't feel that I needed prayer, I just wanted someone to help me resolve my problem.  But nevertheless, I received prayer and went home.

The next day, I had my menstrual cycle!  I didn't think much about it, but then it came back the following month, and the next and so on!  This is something that I had never experienced.  I didn't know what had happened.  I just knew that part of me was finally acting "normal".  Little did I know that God didn't stop there when He healed me.

When I got married, my husband and I decided that we would adopt, since I couldn't have children.  However, after four months into our marriage, I found out that I was pregnant!

My first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, however, I was thrilled!  I never imagined that I could ever become pregnant.  Through it all, I was continually praising God!

After I became pregnant the second time, the doctors told me that I would need to have a DNC, because the fetus had not materialized.  I spoke with God and I told him that I was confused.  Why had He allowed me to experience pregnancy if I was not to have a child?  So I went to my church and asked for prayer.  Everyone was praying for me.  And during this trial, I was always in constant communication with God.

The doctor scheduled me for a sonogram before my DNC, which was going to be performed on Friday of that week.  So on Wednesday, I had my sonogram.  I'll never forget what I saw.  My baby looked like a little "teddy bear" dancing around my belly.  From an empty sac, I had this wonderful creation inside of me!

Today, many of you know him, he's my son Tommy.  And he has brought so much joy to my life!  God has also blessed me with a precious girl that has also brought me great joy!

I now know how "special" it is to be called MOM!

I wish all of the MOMS out there a WONDERFUL MOTHER'S DAY, and I pray that you have had the opportunity to know and enjoy a great relationship with our Heavenly Father.

In Christ,

Emily

Oh Lord, I will honor and praise your Name, for you are my God, you do such wonderful things!  (Isaiah 25:1)
