Bengalica Bengals

Bengalica Cattery came to be because of reading the "Cats for Sale" in the Phoenix Newspaper during Christmas vacation in December, 1997. There were seven ads for Bengals with prices ranging from $300 to $1500. I had no idea what a Bengal was but thought that no one in their right mind would pay that much for "a cat". I called every one of those ads, only to find out that no one had any kittens left. Of course I was intrigued. Apparently people did pay that much for "a cat". Six months later, I flew back to Phoenix and wrote out a check to Mark and Dorena Spittler, of Bengoria Cattery, and brought 2 of them back to Anchorage.

Our Business Philosophy is to work at developing the breed while filling the demand for kittens here in Alaska. As is the custom with all reliable breeders, we do not let kittens go to their new homes until they are at least 12 weeks old. This allows the mother to properly ween and litter train her babies. It also gives us time to make sure they have at least begun their kitten shots, and are well socialized.

Our Breed Standards

To develop our cattery, we have carefully bred or purchased only top quality cats with excellent bloodlines . Some of our "pet quality" kittens have been shown and competed very well against "show quality" kittens and cats.

Our Cattery

We are a very small cattery with only 4 queens and 2 studs. We do not offer stud service to other breeders. This isn't because we don't want to, rather that we simply don't have proper facilities to board "visiting queens".

We prefer not to ship kitties by themselves, but will if no other option is available. To date, all of our kittens have either been picked up, or hand carried to their new owners.
