Dear Portuguese Club Members and friends:
My name Monique Valdez and I am thankful for the opportunity
to be your 2003 Festa Do Espirto Santo Queen. I am the great-granddaughter of Eleanor Moura-Supera and Tony Soares,
granddaughter of Johnny and Carol Moore and daughter of David and Marina Moore.
The celebration of the Festa do Espirto Santo will
begin on Saturday, June 7th and culminate Sunday, June 8th. I am proud to announce that this year my great-grandmother
Eleanor Moura-Supera will be our honorary Queen. Mrs. Supera is a native of Carson City, Nevada. My great grandmother
never had the opportunity to preside as Queen and now her dream will be realized. I can't tell you how special
this is to me. The procession will prove to be a memorable moment to our family. It would be even more special
if all the children from the Club participate in the procession. I am in hopes that you want to be part of this
glorious event, so I respectfully request your participation representing important figures in the precession and
at our annual Festa.
Please remember that a successful Festa do Espirto
Santo begins with the Club members and the support of their families and friends. I am asking for your assistance
to help plan and host this special event. For instance, my grandmother will be helping me with the costumes and
the Portuguese flag. However, I still need volunteers to help with the games, decorations, prizes for the raffle
and raffle-ticket sales but especially clean up. Also, if you wish to make a donation towards this event, please
make your check payable to the PA Club and send it to P.O. Box 603, Mentone, California 92359.
If you wish to volunteer or have any questions regarding
the Festa do Espirto Santo, I can be reached at 909.794.4860. Again, I am privileged and honored to represent you
as your 2003 Festa Do Espirto Santo Queen. Please mark your calendars for this special occasion. Bring your family
and friends to celebrate the long-standing tradition of the Portuguese America Club.
Sincerely yours,
Monique D. Valdez
