Brule - Litchfield Park
January 2004

I went to the Native American Arts Festival in Litchfield Park. I got there just in time to grab a seat up front in the grass to hear Brule play. The admission price to get into the festival was worth every penny to hear this band. They come down from SD to spend the winter performing in/around the Phoenix area. They've won several awards at the Native American Music Awards. After the 2 hr performance I bought several of their CDs and they signed them for me.

To give you some idea of their sound merge in your mind new age jazz with Native American sounds. It's really cool!! Paul plays electric keyboards, Nicole plays a classical flute but makes it sound like a native flute, Shane plays acoustic guitar, a Eagle plays traditional native drums.

I first heard them several years ago when I spent that summer in Asheville NC. On one of my trips to the Talking Leaves Bookstore in Cherokee they were playing the Brule One Nation CD in the store. I wanted to buy one then, but they were all out of them and only had the store copy left.

After the performance I walked around all the booths and got a gorgeous bone choker necklace. I've been wanting one for a while.
