Bikejoring Winter 2006-2007
|
This year, as I had a number of older dogs, I was hoping to tie up
all the loose ends I could. I decided I wanted to go ahead and work
toward getting Kai's WSX title. We started out in October, with me
trying Kai in several pairings to see who was the best match, until I
settled on Tanni, who was already 10. As we ran, though, it looked like
Tanni was doing quite well so I decided to go ahead and try to get Tanni's
WSX title as well. For this title, a dog must either already have a basic
working title(WS) and the necessary 1000 points for that, or a dog must
earn 2000 points. A dog must run no less than 5 miles at a time. Both Kai
and Tanni already had their WS titles, so we had to go on enough runs, with
enough distance, to earn 1000 points for each of them.
As it turned out, I was able to finish the runs for Tanni's WSX on January 1st,
and since the season was still early, I decided to run Brinn, Tanni's daughter,
for her WS. So we continued on through January.
Here are some scenes from this year's runs...

One day was icy and very cold with a cold north wind.
Here is the Arkansas equivalent of the tundra.
This season I got to see a number of Great Egrets. What a stark contrast
the brilliant white of the egret against the tan and grey of the winter ricefields.

This season three dogs earned working titles:
granted by the Samoyed Club of America.
