Empathy is the evolutionary feature that describes humanity's intention to express survival concerns for other people, for the purposes of group survival. Mercy is the spiritual belief that describes humanity's intention to express survival concerns for other people, for the purpose of group well-being. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God." -Matthew 5 (KJV) Whether you are an atheist or spiritualist, following the Golden Rule - 'do unto others as you would have them do unto you' - is easy and practical (but nearly impossible to enforce).  So what should we do?
