The Nature of Trust

Trust has several related meanings. The first version means that you think you can anticipate someone's actions, either because you know them well or because they have no choice.

The second version is a bit harder for me to define. I think it means to trust someone to keep your best interests in mind. Not necessarily to act on them, of course, but at least to be fair.

In neither case do you, the anonymous netizen, qualify. There is no way, barring a worldwide revoltion along the lines of 'Brave New world', that I can possibly come up with a prediction that would hold true for all possible visitors. And what with spammers, cults on the prowl, net cops, and all the others, I don't think that baring my soul would be a terribly good idea.

Besides, I'd have to get it back from my employer, and there's a penalty for early withdrawal.
