Janurary 1, 1893 in Cherokee County, Alabama.
2. JOHN2 BURGESS, SR.
(WILLIAM1) was born 1784 in Virginia
and died 1862 in Blount County, Alabama. In 1803, he married
SARAH SMITH
in Tennessee. Sarah was born about 1779 in South
Carolina and died 1862 in Blount County, Alabama. She was a
full-blooded Cherokee and was forced to go on the Trail of
Tears with one of her sons, but she escaped and returned to
Georgia. John was reported to be blind on the 1860 Blount
County, Alabama Census. His name is also given as Jackson
John Burgess. He is thought to have been a Baptist Minister
as what his son, JOHN BURGESS,
JR.
