Pirate’s Cove

Arggg… this room has been occupied by pirates!  But we promise no one will have to walk the plank.  Here you’ll even find Black Beard’s treasure chests filled with “priceless” coins and jewels.   In addition to that booty, this room is also furnished with two twin beds, two lamps, an end table, a and mirrored bureau.  An in-window air conditioner and baseboard electric heater are provided for temperature control.  Each bed has two pillows, a mattress pad, a waterproof mattress protector, bedspread, dust ruffle, and pillow sham.  Extra blankets are stored in plastic containers the closet on the right and beneath the beds.   The windows of this room have curtains and adjustable blinds.   Guests who dare to bunk with the buccaneers should bring their own two sets of pillowcases and twin sized sheets.

Communications Information

The  TV has Comcast cable.  It also plays VHS tapes.  A portable AM/FM radio CD player is in the kitchen.  Guests should bring their own CDs and/or video tapes.  Wireless LAN access is available if you bring a laptop computer with a wireless card.  There is no landline phone.  You may want to bring your own mobile phone.

Utilities and Safety

Please be aware that this rental unit has NOT been childproofed.   If you have small children, be sure all dangerous materials have been removed from their reach, especially from the closets, cabinets, and drawers.   In particular, note that the small parts in the Pirate’s Cove treasure chests could pose a choking hazard.   If small children are present, please stow the two smaller treasure boxes safely out of reach.  Safety electrical outlet covers and a night light are stored in the kitchen junk drawer if you need them.

The master electric box is in the kitchen.  Spare fuses are in the junk drawer in the kitchen.

Before you turn on any of the electric baseboard heaters, be certain that the bedding is NOT touching the heater because they get very hot and could start a fire.

A fire extinguisher is installed on the wall in the closet of the bathroom.  The lighter for starting the fireplace and/or gas grill is stored above the kitchen sink (out of children’s reach).

Smoke detectors are installed everywhere.  There is a spare battery in the kitchen junk drawer if you should need it.

Other Important Information

Our rental agreement does not allow pets on the premises, and smoking is not allowed indoors.

A plastic container with clearly marked “beach blankets” is stored in one of the bedroom closets.  Please do not use any of the other bedding at the beach or outside.

Each side of the duplex has its own gas grill, picnic table, clothes line, lawn chairs, and an outdoor shower in the back yard.  Please do not burn charcoal in the gas grill.  A plastic tablecloth and grilling utensils are stored in the kitchen.

To protect the septic system, do not flush feminine products (even the “flushable” kind) down the toilet, and do not dispose of grease in the drains.  Also, please wash any beach sand off outdoors before using the indoor shower/tub.

To prevent the dining room tabletop from cracking, please place potholders under any hot items.

Please do not remove the radio from the top of the fridge because it is very difficult to plug it back in.

Check-in time is 2 pm on Saturday.

Leaving the Property at the End of Your Vacation

Check-out time is 9 am on the following Saturday.  The cleaning crew will clean, but they won’t wash dishes so please wash any dishes you use.  Please bag up any trash, and leave it in the barrels in the corner of the backyard.  Also, please be sure to turn off any electric heaters, the coffee pot (it’s not auto shutoff), and the stove.

Later on, just drop the keys in the mail at your earliest convenience.

Enjoy your vacation!
