Byron's Story
Byron started carving in 1993. In the begining Byron and Anne were hikers and backpackers (still are).
Sitting under a tarp one rainy trip Byron got thinking about what might be enjoyable to do while sitting around
a campfire. He mentioned the his lovely wife (that's Anne) that carving might be an enjoyable thing to do. On Byron's
very next birthday he was given a box with some carving knives, a book, and 3 blocks of wood. After many thoughts
wondering where to begin a squirrel was created.
Carved from a rough-out and a plastic squirrel was used to as a model.
Anne's Story
Anne didn't start carving until 1999.
Anne was going with Byron to carving meetings and carve-ins. At carve-ins she would work at cleaning up ghost knots. She finished up the last
ghost knot she had. She got bored and looked the community cut-out box. She selected a small duck blank. Then came over to Byron's tools and
asked if she could use a knife. She's still carving.

Byron's collection of little guys are
a nice size carving to take backpacking. Most of these were carved while we were backpacking.
