MEMBERSHIP

A note from the club president

Attendance in 8 Squared Chess Club is growing and new players are always welcome (especially pretty girls).  Please come and visit us at Barnes and Noble bookstore on Monday nights.  If you like what you see, please consider becoming a member.

Members can compete in in-house tournaments, travel as a group to nearby chesss events and have the opportunity to network within the Fayetteville/Fort Bragg area with other club memebers.  At 8 Squared Chess we are always open to new ideas as well as having the oportunity to participate in a variety of community activities.  Members dues are optional, however a yearly $10 donation can help us to suplement the purchase of new equipment, buy awards for tournaments, and pay USCF and NCCA yearly afiliate fees.  8 Squared Chess has started collecting used books for the purpose to lend them to our chess members.

Members are encouraged to participate to the extent they feel confortable.  Everyone is busy these days with work, school, and family obligations.  It's difficult to find a leisure activity that fits.  8 Squared Chess Club understands that everyone has a variety of duties that they are juggling and we  will do our best to keep our members informed through the web sight in the event that the daily grind or more long term obligations keep you from attending.  Please don't let the fact that you may not be able to attend the meetings keep you from joining our club.  We'll always save you a spot behind a chess board.

Happy Holidays and best regards,
