The software we use is by Curtis Cameron at Ccdominoes.com. If you look at the numerous updates he has made, they were all free. If you have the trial versions, you can still get the updates free as they come out. Each game has it's free trial version. It is different from the paid full version. The differences between the trial and paid versions are not exactly the same for each game. The two main similarities are that you can indeed use the free versions well enough that you are not forced to purchase to be able to continue to enjoy...and the added features are desirable enough that most folks pay the small price for the full versions. Have friends and family too far away to have them over to play often? Buy them the cd versions of these games for gift-giving time and play them every weekend if you like. They are that affordable and it is just like being there with them playing at the table. (If you get LivVe Chat/pager, ya'll can even voice and see each other while playing. There's help for doing that in the Directory of Related Links). It's slightly more cumbersome at first for some folks, especially those that are Pc Challenged, but once set up, you never have to wait for long periods for the site to load the game like at yahoo and pogo. Plus this game allows you to play bots offline for practice and there is a show all 4 hands feature if you are using your computer to teach some one how to play. One unusual feature of Mr. Cameron's software is that the help file on the game's menu bar, is very useful. He simplifies the explanations for novice Pc users well there. It does not take long to read each file inside of Help, and they make it easy to learn how to use the software. There's also great bidding and play strategies that players of all skill levels should read ! Tips for New Users Play several games offline before trying to connect to other active games in the lobbies. You will want to figure out how to set up the game table layout you find comfortable by tinkering around with it. The table-top is re-sizeable and it along with the game's dominoes, dominoes pile box, Table Chat box, and Score Box can be moved using the mouse to drag them where you want them. Once you like the set up, save the game using the file tab at the game's top menu- bar. Next time you open the game, you won't have to resize or drag very much to get it to your liking. This will also save the player name you set so when you open the game it will use that as the default name instead of Frank You will want to get used to how to play using the software for a bit. If you are having trouble installing the game, this rare problem usually occurs at times when Curtis Cameron has a new update out. This problem never lasts more than a few days and you will be able to download it soon so don't give up. It's worth it ! Connecting to other games Often, You will need to refresh the game lobby pages first to see and connect to tables. If a table has filled or a new table added to the lobby, it can take one or two minutes to show up in the game room so refresh the page a few times. Open a page to the game lobby. Look at the rules settings at the tables, and click on an Empty Seat at the table you want to join. The game software will open by first asking if you want to Open or Save. Click on Open. The host of that table has to let you in. If the table is waiting on someone to rejoin or if you have a bad connection, you will be refused. In the later instance, the table host will not likely know you attempted a connection. So don't get sore if refused. Just try another table. The Trial version of the 42 game will only allow you to join other tables. If you have the full version set, up your own table by opening the game, click on options and select the begin networked game tab then select the use lobby to launch tab. You will get a prompt asking which room to set up in. When the game opens either wait or play the bots until other players send a request to join your table. You may select where to seat them if more than one seat is open. You can also create a table from the lobby by clicking on start a new table. Trouble-Shooting - Just click on the problem below: My game asks me what to launch the program with. I can't seem to join other tables I don't understand how Lobby Chat works I can't find the dominoes pile box or the scoring box Can I play online without using the lobby to connect? I can't use all the features on my game. How secure is it to use this game site? What are all the leagues about that I see links for in the lobby? What help is available in the help tab on the game's top menu? |
