Thirty-One Days of Italians was created to promote Italian American Heritage Month through a nationwide educational program. It focuses on those of Italian heritage who have significantly contributed to America, and – to bring attention to their accomplishments – honors one person for each day in October.

The first day of October is set aside in tribute to all Italian immigrants, and the last day of October is to honor a favorite Italian that isn’t on the list. Fifteen Honorary Members maintain a permanent position on the list, leaving more than 50 extraordinary people to share the remaining 14 days in October. With more names than days, a vote was established to determine those who will be honored each year.
