ABOUT THE ARTIST

ARTIST'S STATEMENT

I strive for a 'contemporary impressionism'- clearly identifiable subject matter rendered with loose brushwork and exuberant color.  My goal is to use these principles of suggestion and color to depict beautiful scenes and subjects as they catch my eye and imagination.  I often paint 'en plein air.'

ART TRAINING

I studied at the Crealde School of Art, the Lyme Academy of Art, and in Scott Christensen's intensive course.

JURIED EXHIBITIONS

My works have been shown in juried national exhibitions of the American Impressionist Society, the Arts and Design Society, and the National Acrylic Painters Association-USA.  I received a first prize in painting in the Titusville Art Show in 2004, and also had solo show at Historic Bok Sanctuary.  In 2005,  my landscapes and still life paintings were featured at the Polasek Museum in Winter Park, FL. In 2006, I won 1st place at the Brevard TCarts 'Focus on Arts' and Best Oil Painting in the Transylvania Arts Guild 'Summer Showcase.'  Recent shows also include regional exhibitions in Tryon, NC and Knoxville, TN as well as an exhibit of 'Red Hat' ladies at the Polasek Museum in Winter Park, FL.

MEMBERSHIPS

I am a member of the American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America, and Plein Air Florida.
