Elizabeth Winthrop, MA, MFT, PsyD, is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
in the state of California (lic # 35442) with a doctorate in psychology. She
is considered an expert in the field of treating Eating Disorders, Obsessions and Addictions in addition to other related
disorders. Her experience has taken the form of working with this clientele at
all levels of care from inpatient settings to outpatient services allowing for a well-rounded education in the recovery process. Dr Winthrop has served as an inpatient Case Manager and Eating Disorder expert for
a major insurance company.
Currently, Dr Winthrop maintains a private practice in the Sherman Oaks area. She runs groups for clients suffering with Eating Disorders for whom individual sessions
alone are not sufficient. Elizabeth Winthrop supervises Interns gaining their
hours towards licensure and educates Mental Health Providers including licensed professionals in her areas of expertise.
Elizabeth is a graduate of Phillips Graduate Institute with a Masters Degree
in Marriage and Family Therapy. Post graduation she continued to advance her
education by becoming certified in the treatment of Anger Management & Domestic Violence.
An additional year of training gained her Certification as a Post Modern Therapist.
Post Modern Therapy utilizes the three theories of Solution Focus, Narrative & Collaborative Languages. All of which are present focused and future oriented working collaboratively with clients as the expert
on their lives. She attended Southern California University for Professional
Studies, obtaining a doctorate in Psychology and graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Dr Winthrop stays current
in her field by attending on going classes and seminars in the field. She is
an active member of a number of Professional Associations: AAMFT, AAMFT –
CA, AAMFT CA – SFV, CAMFT, CAMFT – SFV, WAAT & PGI Alumni.
