On May 11, 2007, Bruce Street School celebrated "Deaf Pride Day". This is the day when Bruce Street students take time out to celebrate their achievements with their parents.
The day started with a breakfast which students, staff and parents shared. After a wonderful breakfast, let the show begin!
This year's celebration opened with the flag salute presented by our graduating class followed with our multiply-disabled class signing, The Star Spangled Banner.
Each class had an opportunity to special presentations with the audience, which included gymnastics, songs, dance, and poetry.
Our mainstream students presented a special ensemble performance of a Whitney Houston song (Count on Me), and a special highlight of the day was the fashion show. Students showed off their sewing skills as they modeled attire they had themselves made. A special thanks to Sandra Muhammad for this wonderful extra-curricular activity.
Another special treat was the presentation and collaboration of our Deaf Culture and Spanish Clubs!
As always, one of the crowd favorites was the dance and gymnastics presented between scenes by our Bruce Street Dancers!
