Upon graduating from Bruce Street School, our students continue on to secondary programs for the hearing impaired, including our own at Technology High School, a magnate school in Newark, as well as secondary programs in Bergen, Passaic, and Union Counties. We also have a number of students attending the Model Secondary School for the Deaf on the Gallaudet University Campus.
More About
Our Students

Students who attend Bruce Street School come from the city of Newark and surrounding towns in Essex, Union, Passaic and other counties in Northern New Jersey. Our student body is diverse and dynamic.

Bruce Street School students wear uniforms reflecting our school colors as per Dr. Clifford B. Janey‘s
Superintendent of Newark Public Schools, uniform policy. Such a policy helps students learn and achieve in an atmosphere dedicated to academic excellence. Students come to school better prepared to learn and more clearly understanding our academic expectations of them.

You may have had a chance to see our students in the Bell Atlantic (now Verizon) commercial several years ago! They have also been on the cover Bell Atlantic (now Verizon) telephone book where they were shown using a TTY. Bruce Street is a proud user of Verizon services.
