Acknowledgements
Some of the poems in this volume were first published in Perspectives,
Poetry Now, Wild Dog, The Outsider, Amphora and Hyperion.
Gene Fowler spent five years in
San Quentin in the late 1950s. He describes himself as hard core
unemployable since his release from prison and, except for a few
part-time jobs, has made his way through life as a working poet.
He is the author of Field Studies and Shaman Songs
and his work has appeared in numerous small press publications as
well as anthologies. He does not want to nor should he be identified
as a prison poet. His work reaches far beyond that as the poems in
this book clearly show.
