The Comanche Indians, a nomadic offshoot of the Eastern Shoshoni Indians,
lived on the North-American Southern Great Plains during 1800-1900s. The name "Comanche", a household word found in many works
of fiction, TV shows, videogames etc., is believed to come from from the Spanish "interpretation" of their Ute name "Kohmahts",
meaning: those who are against us, or want to fight us. The Comanche People call themselves "Numunuh", which means: The People.
Early explorers knew them as "Padouca"; their Siouan name.
Welcome to the Comanche Tribe Web Site of the
Y Indian Princesses of the Seminole Nation located in Northwest Broward County,
Florida.
Our members usually reside in Coral Springs, Parkland, and Boca
Raton. Indian
Princesses is a YMCA program promoting father and daughter bonding dating back to the 1950's.
Our Comanche tribe has grown significantly in recent years but we are always open to new members, especially first
and second graders with neat dads. We meet 1 to 2 times a months to do crafts,
go to sporting events, perform charitable activities, go on great camp outs like our trip to the Circle F Dude Ranch for the
annual Fall Nation Event.
