Here you will find my ravings concerning the film industry, actors, and theater owners. Mostly the greedy theater owners I think.
1/7/2003
Here is my rant for the century. Theater owners and the high price of snacks. Now, I do not go to the movies to eat, but there is something about the smell of freshly popped popcorn. It is one of those distinctive aromas, that you cannot stop eating once you start. I usually go to the movies by myself, so my expenses are low, except for the price of tickets. Presently, I go to the bargain matinee to cut down on that expense. In my area, that is $5.50.
For a family of four here is the expense of one the greatest entertainment experiences in the world:
| Item | Cost | Actual Cost |
| 4 Bargain Tickets | $22.00 | ???? |
| Bucket of Popcorn | $4.50 | $.85 |
| Two medium drinks to share | $4.00 | $1.00 |
| Two large candy bars to share | $5.00 | $1.50 |
| Total | $35.50 | |
| Price of DVD in 6 months | $18.00 |
It is one thing to rant, but another to do something about it. My protest is to NOT buy anything in the theater. When the prices are on a par with 7/11 then I'll start purchasing candy and drinks in the theater again. So let your local theater owner know your displeasure.
