Something's Gotta Give stars Jack Nicholson as Harry Sanborn, Diane Keaton as Erica Barry, Frances McDormand as Zoe Barry, Keanu Reeves as Julian Mercer, Amanda Peet as Marin, Jon Favreau as Leo, Paul Michael Glaser as Dave, and Rachel Ticotin as Dr. Martinez.
Something's Gotta Give is a play, not a movie. All of you play lovers will see this and think it's better than sliced bread. For the rest of us, Something's Gotta Give is predictable, too long, and gives nothing in the way of performances. Oh yes, Diane Keaton has a full frontal nude scene. Well, for a 58 year old, she is in great shape. Where was the nude scene in Annie Hall? That was when she should have appeared nude.
Something's Gotta Give has a plot and superfluous characters. Actually, all the characters except the main three aren't necessary to the plot. Well, here's the plot: Harry Sanborn is a 63 year old with money and never dates anyone over 30. He and his latest date, Marin, go to her mother's place to romp. As they are half dressed, Harry goes to the refrigerator and is caught with his pants off by Marin's mother and aunt, Zoe. later as everyone settles into there night time activities, Harry has a heart attack. He is rushed to the hospital and is told he needs rest and cannot travel. He is then forced to stay with Marin's mother, Erica. Erica is working on her next play and requires the solitude of the beach get away. And as they say, the rest is predictable!
I give it 1 out of 5 black stones:
