X-Men

X-Men stars Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Patrick Stewart as Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Famke Janssen as Dr. Jean Grey, James Marsden as Cyclops, Halle Berry as Storm, Anna Paquin as Marie/Rogue, Tyler Mane as Sabretooth, Ray Park as Toad, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos as Mystique, Bruce Davison as Senator Kelly.

X-Men tells the story of mutants in the near future. For those of us that were not fans of the comic books, X-Men goes a long way to explain the origins of the characters. We see the early discovery of the powers of the mutants, along with Senator Kelly's cure for the non-mutant majority, registration! There are two factions of mutants. One led by Xavier, a mutant that runs a school for mutant children, and Magneto, a mutant who wants to turn the entire world into mutants. It's a classic good guys against the bad guys story, done with great special effects. The actions and powers of the mutants are very believable and well acted. The special effects are so good in movies that nothing looks fake anymore.

X-Men is a film that shows the rest of Hollywood, how to put comic book characters on the screen. The acting is good and does not rely on tongue in cheek humor to make this a pleasurable film for the viewer. There are a few light moments, but they are apropos to the scene.

X-Men is a must see for the sci-fi enthusiasts as well as those interested in good entertainment.

I give it 3 out of 5 dog tags:
