Gone in 60 Seconds stars Nicolas Cage as Randall "Memphis" Raines, Angelina Jolie as Sara "Sway" Wayland, Giovanni Ribisi as Kip Raines, Robert Duvall as Otto Halliwell, Delroy Lindo as Detective Roland Castlebeck, Will Patton as Atley Jackson, Christopher Eccleston as Raymond "The Carpenter" Calitri, Chi McBride as Donny Astricky, Scott Caan as Tumbler, James Duval as Freb, Vinnie Jones as The Sphinx.
Gone in 60 Seconds is a remake of a 1974 film of the same name. Of course, now we have bigger and better special effects and car chases. This film is strictly a fluff film starring Nicolas Cage. He seems to be the only one with any dialog. The rest of the actors have very few lines. It's entertainment for people who like cars. We get to see some very fine automobiles and some great car chases.
Gone in 60 Seconds centers around Randall "Memphis" Raines, a retired car thief, drawn back into the business to save his brother from a car smuggler, Raymond "The Carpenter" Calitri. Memphis must steal fifty cars in three days, but not just any cars, they must be ones on a special list. This list includes new as well as collector cars. He recruits his cohorts from the past and plans a one night grand theft. The police know that Memphis is back in town. They are aware that something is about to happen and stake out several cars that are on the list. This leads to the chase scene that we have come to expect in this type of film.
Gone in 60 Seconds has parts of Bullitt, The Magnificent Seven, and many, guy is out of prison and is watched by cops movies. Other than Nicolas Cage can't act, I take that back he plays Nicolas Cage really well, this film is good entertainment. Nothing heavy, just fun!
I give it 3 out of 5 clubs:
