Galaxy Quest is a classic spoof on the entire Star Trek phenomenon from the demise of the series to it's Ressurection. The Galaxy Quest crew is doing personal appearances since none of them is employed as actors. They despise the leader Jason Nesmith. He is always late and thinks of no one but himself. But soon their lives will change with a real space challenge.
Mathesar, an alien visits the convention and asks for the help of the Galaxy Quest crew. Of course, he's not taken seriously. They assume he is just another dressed up conventioneer. He then takes the entire crew into space on an exact replica of the Galaxy Quest spaceship. The ship was built from historical films received from earth. It seems Mathesar has no idea that this was just a TV series. The Galaxy Quest crew with nothing better to do mans the ship and fights the enemy.
As with all series there are a few fans who know more about the series than the actors. Brandon and Kyle are called into service when the stars can't figure out how to stop the self destruction mechanism activated by the enemy.
