I have been going to movies all my life. My father would take me to see movies as his companion. My earliest memories are of westerns in 1953 at the Sage theater in Winnemucca, NV. We lived in small towns therefore we saw every movie that came through town. I continued this throughout my childhood and now into adulthood. I also dragged my children to the movies. I own a DSS satellite dish and subscribe to all the movie channels. I hate cable companies. As a result I see many movies that never make it into theaters.
I am also a big fan of Joe Bob Briggs' Drive-In Theater on The Movie Channel. Saddly Joe Bob's Drive-In Theater was cancelled after his last performance on 2/24/96. Come back Joe Bob! Well he is back, he's doing MonsterVision on TNT. We're minus one of the "B"s because the films are cut. Sell out, you make the call! Well, he's done it again, lost another job. Joe Bob is no longer on MonsterVision. His new official site. Joe Bob is now gatekeeper of a new satirical site as well The Wittenburg Door. More personal stuff.

What sets me apart from the Siskel & Eberts of this world is a simple truth: I don't read books! I review movies based on the impression the movie made on me, not in reference to the same story in a book. I do, however, compare movies of the same genre on occasion. I'm against censorship of any kind. In fact, I would like to thank James Madison, et al for the Bill of Rights and a personal "boo hiss" for every time the courts erode them. I believe in personal choice. Therefore, movies that depict nudity, violence, pornography, or sexual content, are a choice that all adults should be able to make for themselves. Children, however, should be guided by their parents. I don't believe in the influence of movie content on children over seven years of age. If by this time the child does not know right from wrong it is not the fault of the movies but the parents. I am not influenced by the latest yuppie crazes or any political correctness.
My rating system is a 5 symbol scale:

I do have a saying that pertains to movie making and the way I rate movies.

Good acting will not save a bad story!

Personal Stuff

I'm a computer programmer. I create databases in 4th Dimension for corporate or small business. My platform of choice is the Mac. I worked for Nevada Bell and Pacific Bell for 23 years. My career with Bell took me from the mail room through microwave radio and on to computing. I started programming in 1969, yes there were computers in 1969 and I loved them. I worked on IBM and Univac mainframes. I am a database designer, having worked on relational, network, and hierarchical structured databases. I bought my first 128k Mac in 1984. I took early retirement in 1988 to go into business for myself. I also have a love for mathematics. I am now dabbling in Number Theory and have created the Binary, Prime, and Factors Page I also have some old fashioned math procedures that due to calculators are going to be lost or what do I do when the batteries are dead and the Sun won't shine: Square Root Page and Greatest Common Divisor or GCD Page

This also marks the first time that I am actively involved with my grandson's baseball team, the JOBL Peewee Indians.

I am also very interested in individual rights, therefore, I have also created the personal rights webpage to pontificate my views.
