Base models are made out of Red-Oak. Typical upgrades are darker
colored woods for the dividers or tool block. I have made a couple boxes out of Zebrawood, Cherry, and Rosewood.
Some of the woods are rather expensive, but they do look very nice. I am currently using a Red-Oak Champ, and a Cherry
B Main. Red-Oak seems to be the most affordable and durable for a Pit-Tray. Most customers have selected a Red-Oak
Pit-Tray then selected a tropical wood for the dividers. The Red-Oak is fairly light colored, so a darker divider seems
to look the best.
All Pit-Trays are top coated with a Hand-Rubbed Danish Oil finish.
Here are some pictures of some of the wood I have used. Your PC
may show slightly different color than the finished Pit-Tray.
