I'm James C. Starbird, of the Northwest 15th. Arkansas Infantry, a reenactor regiment of the Confederate Army,
Western Theater. I'm rarely photographed, and here I'm in Union Blue. We were at the National Park Site, Judge Parker's
Courtroom, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, when a passerby took this photo, and had it printed the same day. Although primarily Confederate,
we portray Federals as needed.
Our Company/Regiment has been in existence since 1993, and has grown into one of the larger units in the
First Arkansas Battalion, of the Trans-Mississippi Brigade. Our members come from Western Arkansas and Eastern
Oklahoma, and reenact battles and skirmishes in this area, as well as events in other states, such as Gettysburg, Franklin,
Shiloh, and Perryville.
We seek to learn more about the armies of this time in our
Nation's past, and have no interest in modern-day controversy
or political opinion. Camaraderie, glee and perloo, and travel
to out-of-the-way places with a historic event at hand are what
we are bound for.
