Landing at the
Healey airport was the start of a great ski vacation. Dave Shaw was the
tour guide to our condos. We all now know where Dave grew up and why he
became such a great skier.
We all hit the slopes. The snow was great and the
sightseeing was beautiful. The trees were covered with so much jewelry
and underwear, some wondered if they were on a chair lift to
Victoria's Secrets.
John Gilstrom spotted an item on the ground and felt
the only noble thing to do was to ski down and place it back on the
tree. Much to everyone's surprise Surjit also felt the need to recover
this item. So after Surjit retried it he felt that it would only
be appropriate to present it to the "Home town Boy" Dave Shaw. It
turned out that the item that both John and Surjit thought was a bra
ends up being a thong!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The night life kept us hopping. One night we took a
bartenders tip and ventured out on a "short walk" To the Lodge. He
failed to tell us there were no street lights, and we would be walking
on snow covered gravel roads. We all earned our drink when we
finally got there.
We were all waiting for the bus one cold snowy night when
a deluxe travel coach pulled up. It was the Doo Wah Riders, the band
that we were actually going to see at the Boiler Room. They really
needed some help loading their instruments so of course we offered some
strong backs in exchange for a ride. They accepted, and off we went. We
are now known as the Doo Wah Groopies. We will all be seeing them
again "Doing the Puyallup".
Days were winding down and soon we had to think about
going home. Our trip leader Mike Miner was so organized he kept us all
posted regarding the flight out. He was also awarded the notorious
thong for all his efforts. Well it was all too good to be true to
be able to fly out of Healey. Weather changed and we had to be
bused all the way to Boise. To make up for the inconvenience we were
all served complimentary drinks to ease our
pain. Mary Lynne Carson
