The Pentecost Season is a time for growth in faith, because God’s Spirit teaches us how to serve our Lord Jesus Christ. We pray God will grow His grace in our lives!

Vacations are times times of refreshment and to get closer to God.  If you travel, look up the worship time at a church near your journey.  Time and location are usually in the phone book, but you may ask at the church office or look online at: www. lcms.org/ca/www/locators/nchurches/church.asp

The earth is the Lord’s, and all that is in it,” Ps. 24.  Will you use the money from your tax rebate in a godly manner?  Will you share?  Will you tithe or make a special gift?  Since all of life is a gift, we ought to remember that it belongs, first of all, to Him, and should be used as He would like it used.

Let Us Pray!  You may start our prayer chain by contacting Virginia Snodgrass (765-3368) or Gayle Grimm (765-3607).  We will pray and ask others to pray with us. The Bible commands: “Pray without ceasing.” (I Thessalonians 5:17)

Deaf Ministry Sunday will be August 10.  Ernie Haefner will join us to communicate with those who cannot hear.  Please invite friends and neighbors who are hearing impaired to join us.

Help Us Name Living Areas In The Retreat Center  The retreat building committee would like to name the different living areas of the new retreat center in Herington.  We have two 3-bedroom suites, and a great room upstairs; and two meeting rooms and one 3-bedroom suite on the lower level.  We would like ideas on what to name these areas in the facility.  It is our hope that these names may be more themes of Kansas than Biblical; however, if they could connect the two, it would be great.  Once we have chosen the winning entry, we will use that information to identify and decorate the areas.  The chosen entrant will receive a free weekend at the facility. It is suggested that this could be a Sunday School project.   If you have any questions, please call Doris at 785-357-4441, ext. 101.  Each entry should be submitted to Doris at servantwo@kslcms.org.  The deadline for entries is August 14, 2008.  Good luck!

LWML As summer keeps on flying by our LWML group has been keeping busy.  We brought 53 items to be donated to the Alma Food Bank.  We donated money to the church to help defray the cost of the Portals of Prayer.  We purchased bottled water to give away at the 4-H fair with a message on it telling people that Jesus gives the free gift of the water of life.  We continued to work on door decorations for the Alma Manor and brought items to be used by the Manor for prizes for Bingo.  We are working on ideas for a money raiser to help pay for repairing the church roof.  If you have a suggestion please let us know.  We keep filling our mite boxes so we can support our Kansas District projects and our National projects.  We will be holding our August meeting at the Alma Manor so our sisters-in-Christ who now reside at the Manor can attend.  As always our meetings are always open to anyone who would like to attend, we meet at 2 p.m. on the 4th Friday of the month.  Please come join us in “serving the Lord with gladness”.
