Welcome to the Maine II Home Page.

Chartered March 1, 1975

The Casco Bay Chapter.

Portland Head Light

Welcome to Blue Knights Maine Chapter II's web page. Our chapter was chartered by Blue Knights International on March 1, 1975. We were the fourth chapter chartered. There are now over five hundred chapters internationally. In the early days we drew members from Southern, Western and Central Maine. ME-1, the first chapter, covered Eastern and Northern Maine. We had members from Waterville, Kittery, Rockland/Camden, Rumford and the Portland areas. At one point we have over one hundred members.

Since 1975 five chapters have been formed in that vast area. There are no officially assigned areas but generally the Maine chapters are aligned as follows. Maine V is in York County, Maine VI is in Androscoggin County, ME-VII is in the Lincoln, Knox and Waldo County area. ME-IX is in Southern Cumberland/Northern York County. ME-II covers Cumberland and Sagadahoc Counties. Blue Knight membership is not restricted to a particular area. One can live in California and belong to a chapter in Maine.

The strength of Blue Knights is its membership. They come from all branches of Law Enforcement. Our chapter has members who are local police, city police, sheriff deputies, military police, troopers, and retired officers. Our chapter President is a patrol officer with the Scarborough Police, our Vice President is a retired Navy Military Police dog handler and our Secretary/Treasurer is a retired state trooper. Our Board of Directors is made up of a Master At Arms (Navy Military Police), a Freeport police officer, and a retired Kennebunk Police Officer. Our past president is a motor officer with the Falmouth Police Department. Our members are from Maine, Massachusetts, Florida (wintertime) and Arizona. We ride dressers and sport bikes. There is no differentiation about the make or size of your motorcycle. We share a love for motorcycling and work in law enforcement.

We are a small (fifteen members) group that does a lot of fun things. Besides the obvious motorcycle riding we have had out side cook outs in July and in the snow in January. We have had sleep overs at a campground in March. We have a chapter meeting once a month. In the "non riding" season we meet at each others homes for "pot luck" dinners. One meeting, hosted by our past president, was called a mystery dinner and you had to be there to understand the fun. We hold two fund-raisers each year. A scenic ride/poker run in August and a dance in October. The proceeds from these fund-raisers are donated to Camp Sunshine for Children. We have hosted regional conference meetings where over two hundred Blue Knights from all over visited us. In May 2004 we hosted the Spring Conference meeting in Portland and will host it again in May 2005. In past years we hosted an event called "The Quest" that was the best attended event in the Northeast. For several years our chapter was the lead unit in the annual Maine Day parade in the Lewiston/Auburn area.

If you are a (federal, military, state, county or municipal) sworn police officer, corrections officer or retired, we would like you to consider joining us. FMI contact our chapter secretary whose name, phone number, and email address are listed on another page.

Thank you for visiting our web page.
