Details for Lone Star King Events

Head ‘em  up!  Move ‘em out,   The next camp out for all the Lone Star Kings and Guests is December 4 – 7, inclusive.  This is something you don’t want to miss.  We will have some fun things but we will also have time for us to visit on several occasions.  We have lots planned and lots of unplanned, time as well.

Here is an example of the things we will be doing.  Spaghetti dinner, fish hatchery tour,  comparing recipes and tasting the lovely cookies that come from them, and free time to visit with each other.

Here is the planned itinerary.  Arrive at the Marina RV Park, which is in very close proximity to the fish hatchery.  The fish hatchery is a Texas State Unit and the one that supplies the Large Mouth Bass fingerlings for Lake Fork .  They currently are asking fishermen that catch a bass of 13 lbs or above to bring to them for breeding purposes.  The intent is to increase the size of the bass in the lake.

Thursday December 4:     Arrive at Athens Texas Marina RV Park!  Time to settle in and relax a bit.

Friday December 5:           Group visit early during the day and then a tour of the fishery with an opportunity to fish at the hatchery after the tour at no additional cost.   Dinner at the Marina .  The restaurant is very good and the prices are moderate.

Saturday December 6:       Group visit at the Park center we will be using (if we have a minimum of six rigs) or be on your own until about 2 P.M.  Then we will be meeting as a group at the center.  Bring your favorite Cookie recipe and two dozen cookies made from that recipe.  (two dozen as we will have about 20 people we hope.  Still waiting to hear from many of you.  We will eat some cookies and visit  We also plan to have the Christmas exchange, with a limit of $5 per gift.

At 4 P.M. there will be  business meeting.

At 7 p.m. we will have a Spaghetti Dinner with the sauce being made by Pat  We may need a volunteer to help cook some spaghetti.

Sunday December 7,         You will be on your own and then we will check out until our spring Rally.

The extra charge for the camp out is $15 per couple. (This includes the tour and spaghetti dinner.)  The rate we have been quoted by the park for nightly fees are $18 again based on a minimum of 6 rigs.  We currently have commitments from Shannon and Kathy Foote; Connie and Jerry Dutton; Pat and Kay;  David and Linda Rodgers( guests of Pat and Kay and not KOTR) and Ed and Betty Perkins, Jay and Korrine Reger.  We do not however, have the arrive and leaving times for all of these.  Please one more time will everyone please give us your scheduled arrival and leaving dates as well as your commitment.

If you have any questions please contact either Kay or Pat and we will get an answer.  We hope everyone will get to us with your commitments so I can supply this information with list of names to the park so you get the rate before, during and after the actual rally.  Kay and Pat will arrive Wednesday to make sure we are there early to help out with everyone.

Fuel, Walmart, restaurants and other amenities are all in close proximity to the park.  We will be on the edge of Lake Athens while at the park.  Hope all can make this December Rally.

As I said below, the first hamburger originated in Athens, Texas.  "Uncle" Fletcher Davis, an Athens Native, introduced this wonderful new sandwich at the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis.
