Old Stripes 

                                            Distant bugle sounds recall,
                                            weathered stripes rise first of all.

                                           Old stripes, the sleeves are worn,
                                            man inside as tattered and torn..

                                            Immersed in thought, again must fight,
                                            once, twice not three, more with their might..

                                           Faded stripes on sleeve, a burden bear,
                                           all gone, young at heart, un-fair..

                                           Old stripes seen all, alone left to stand..
                                           home all will come, he, them, will hear no band..

                                           Oh! Lord, they're all gone, not I,
                                           without old stripes more would die..

                                          Old stripes you all young at heart, fought and fought..
                                          remember them in your heart, not your thought..

                                          Do no more than you can to recall this noble band,
                                          ready to rise once again, to bugles call, these old stripes,
                                          always there to give a hand.

                                          No salute do they get, but always give more in return,
                                          so now with regret, we one and all salute this noble band.
