Millions of women are abused each year.
Most are mothers and abused in the presence of their children. Meet a survivor, Teresa Burgess-Morris. Her ballad, "Don't
Hurt the Baby's Mama" is a true story about her abusive first marriage.
Teresa is a KEYnote speaker who really sings and provides a domestic voilence toolkit to her audience in an inspiring
way. She has spoken at the University of Texas, Dallas, Texas, Women's Association of Verizon Employees (WAVE), and
the American Business Women's Association to name a few.
From Teresa: "If you or someone you know needs help, dial...
1-800-799-SAFE
they will tell you about a shelter near
you that accepts battered mothers and their children. The location of shelters is secret. Some shelters take pets, or
can tell you about free boarding elsewhere. Shelters provide counseling and can help individuals on a case-by-case
basis." (See the Links page for local shelters).
This site is
dedicated to providing help and hope toward a happy ending for mothers and their children who are victims of domestic
violence through keynote speaking and the signature song. Also, Teresa and her husband, Charles have sponsored and coordinated charity
events spot-lighting local charities. (See them below on WB33).
