A Very Interesting Job
Job Description: Hostess - Stewardess / Cook / Deckhand / Mate
This job description is of one crew position which includes the duties of a Hostess - Stewardess, Cook, Deckhand, and First Mate. Those with experience already know that sailing vessels up to about 70' are typically crewed by a two person team. With few exceptions, our beautiful sailing yachts are also operated by two people. A captain and first mate share most all duties and responsibilities.
One position is available now to train for work on a Sailing Yacht doing Expedition Charters. Sailing experience is good but not necessary, an adventurous spirit and the right personality are. We will provide all necessary additional training for the right person.
Our vessels will be operating in the Eastern Caribbean, Central America and the Western Caribbean; Belize & Honduras. Soon, we will be expanding into the South Pacific Islands; Cooks, Tonga, and Fiji.
Unlike Term Charters where the crew waits on guests, guests on an Expedition Charter want a "Hands On" experience. They want to participate as much as possible in every aspect of the operation of the boat and all expedition activities. Additional activities typically include; Snorkeling, Diving, Wind and Kite Surfing, Beach Combing, Bar-B-Qs on the Beach and Island Exploration. We specialize in Swimming with Dolphins and Whales when ever possible.
Crewing on an Expedition Charter vessel is lots of fun. As a professional crew member on one of our vessels you will learn to be a teacher, mentor and spotter. You will help each guest realize his or her personal dream of crewing on an expedition sailing vessel. Whether a guest has never been on a sailing vessel before, or is skipper of their own 40 foot sloop at home, each wants to learn more and expand their personal knowledge and abilities. In a way, it's very much like a schoolship environment.
Peregrine Marine pays professional crew on the basis of shares of charter revenue. This includes room and board and an equal share of tips. The annual compensation for this position should grow to between $25,000 and $35,000 a year plus the value of room and board.

Please Note: Success in this business is based on the crew's performance. It does not matter how great and wonderful the actual boat is. The ability of the crew to interact, motivate and guide guests to the biggest grin possible is what keeps them coming back and referring friends and associates. It also has a major impact on your income and the size of your tips.
It is therefore imperative that each crew team work well together. A happy, fun, and harmonious environment must be created and maintained by each crew team. To help insure the most productive pairing for this team, Peregrine Marine creates an in-depth personality profile on each prospective employee.
