"Experiences of a Hollywood Extra" is a book which I have written, but which has not been published. This page contains the Table of Contents. The picture above is a reduced version of the 8-1/2" by 11" photograph referred to in the book as my "head shot". It was taken in 1992, and my "salt and pepper" hair now has more "salt" and less "pepper". More background about the author and the book is provided in the Foreword.
| April 28, 1999 - Comment: One thing I learned during the 2-1/2 years I worked is an extra is that continuity is important. That makes me wonder why Beverly Hills 90210 has apparently forgotten the importance of continuity in one instance. Luke Perry's character, Dylan McKay, was an alcoholic in earlier episodes who could not take a drink without dire consequences. Currently he drinks beer, wine, and champagne without any apparent consequences. Go figure. |
| September 25, 1999 - Comment: Shows regularly film outdoor scenes to establish where the characters are. Beverly Hills 90210 spent a day filming establishment scenes for "California University". I was in several of those scenes, wearing a tan suit. Over five years after the last time I worked as an extra, I still see myself in such scenes, the latest being this week. |
