Maundy Thursday is the night of Jesus' last supper with his disciples. On that night, he shared Passover with them. Then, he was betrayed and arrested.

For the church, Easter is not just one Sunday but seven. The links below will take you to my sermons for the seven Sundays of Easter. From time to time, I will replace the sermons on this site or add new ones.

Pentecost is the day Christians celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit.

Sermons on the Nature of Salvation. During my study leave in the summer of 2003, I continued writing a paper entitled, "Where Are We, and What Time Is It?" and subtitled, "A Study of Salvation in Response to the Theology of Douglas John Hall." Specifically, the response is to Hall's 3-volume work, Theology in a North American Context. The three volumes are Thinking the Faith, Professing the Faith, and Confessing the Faith. Hall argues that all theologies are contextual--they come from, speak in terms of, and speak to human beings in particular times and places. No theologian writes eternal truth for all times and places. My thesis is that salvation is also contextual because God makes it happen for people in their particular times and places, and it happens in terms of those times and places and the people's needs. Below are links to three sermons on the nature of salvation I preached during the month of August when we worship in the Old Broad Street Church, our historic building completed in 1795 and preserved intact.
