Ric, originally from Tampa Florida via Cleveland Ohio is known as the "Wonder Bra of Drummers", because of the supportive, yet uplifting, role that is expressed in his playing. He has toured and played with the following artists: Michael Crawford (1998 U.S. tour), Barry Manilow (1999), Alvorro Torres (Latin American international tour), Selena (Buenos Amigos video),Grammy nominated David Arkenstone and Larry Storch ( F Troop), to name a few. Ric feels that his style of drumming is quite eclictic. He has had many influences throughout his drumming career. One of them is Peter Erskine who Ric studied with in New York City between semesters in college. Ric was also the recipient of the prestigous Shelley Mann Scholorship awarded through Modern Drummer magazine in 1981. After recieving his bachelors in Percussion from University of South Florida ,Ric moved on to University of Miami for his Masters in Studio Music and jazz. Both degrees were put to good use as an Adjunct Professor at University of Redlands for 4 years. He has performed in almost every drumming situation imaginable: from playing with such jazz artists as Grammy Nominated Jazz vocal group, "Rare Silk" and Doc Severinson, to floating around on cruise ships, and eventually landing a gig with the prestigious Ringling Bros. and Barnum Bailey Circus. Here Ric learned the art of spitting llama sweater knitting. He now performs throughout the Los Angeles area with a Steely Dan Revue Band ("Pretzel Logic") and other various Los Angeles based artists. |
