What is universal spirituality?
Where is unity when there is so much religious division in the world? Division begins in each of us--- we may say our religion is better than another. Look at the results of this view---US Church burnings, Bosnia or Northern Ireland.
On the other hand, many call for "religious tolerance", inter-religious dialogue, or for a world religion. Tolerance is still separation. Instead of religious tolerance, practical spiritual experience of the underlying unity is needed. And, more human organizations only carry us further into legalism and away from realizing our true nature. Religious rules and structures generally reinforce the ego, making greater "religious pride", increasing division.
We need a direct experience of Reality. Whether as a Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, even Non-Believer etc. whatever the term you use for the Most High, the same fruit develops---awakening to a broader experience of life beyond our social conditioning.
Let the ego expand outward and embrace and Love your family, your neighbor, your nation, your world, the entire cosmos--- finally the ego disappears--- and a universal sprit is manifested through you.
Love, compassion, and kindness become natural. At the same time wisdom, equalmindedness, and equanimity develop as a balance.
If you desire to build a new world, start with yourself.
